Progress report for September 7th, 2015
Heya, Costume Fairy Adventures fans! It’s been a while, we know – but belated fairy news is better than none!
We’re still mostly in Boring Mode; if we were posting weekly updates at this point, it’d be stuff along the lines of: “Hey, we just completed our seventh proofing pass on the Core Rlebook! We only found 156 errors this time!” (That’s not a hypothetical example, incidentally – we really did find 156 errors in our last proofing pass. Which is actually pretty good, considering.)
We do have one big piece of news, though: we finally have all of the Core Rulebook illustrations in hand. Every last one. (It turns out that 150+ illustrations takes a long time!) With this, there are only three pieces of the puzzle remaining to get the Core Rulebook whipped into shape:
- Our editor is hard at work on the index.
- Our layout artist is equally hard at work on the cover template.
- Our proofreaders are giving it one more look to see what final fixes we can slip in while we’re waiting for the preceding two items.
We’ve updated the Core Rulebook PDF on DriveThru to reflect these updates – all of the illustrations should now be in, and you should see a placeholder index at the tail-end of the document. Content-wise, the only significant changes to this version involve some clarifications to a couple of the more elaborate examples in the NPCs section.
For our backers, this may be your last chance to offer comments on the rulebook before it goes to proofs; we’ll be sending out a separate backer-only update with a reminder of where to find that document later this evening.
On the Playset front, Tomb of Follies continues to tick along. It has a lot of moving parts, which ended up posing some unique layout challenges, but the light at the end of the tunnel is finally in sight. We’re not going to promise an updated preview within the next week, but that’s what we’re aiming for – fingers crossed!
Finally, in case you missed it, Costume Fairy Adventures was at Kumoricon this past weekend! It’s a bit too soon to have any after-action reports in hand just yet, but they’re coming; in the meantime, if you were able to attend, why not let us know how it went?
That’s all for now!
